It is probably very surprising to many people to learn that Michigan is the home to many different well known wineries. Although the state of Michigan may not spring to mind as being one of the great wine areas around the world, they have built a solid reputation in the wine industry for red, white and sparkling wines. The Leelenau Penisula, also spelled Leelanau Peninsula, is one district in Michigan that specializes in wines. The Leelenau Peninsula wine trail allows for visitors to spend time at a variety of wineries to get the true flavor of Michigan wines. Leelenau That Are Available The Leelenau that are available in Michigan are in the Leelanau Peninsula. There are other wineries around the state but the Leelenau consist of thirteen different wineries on the Peninsula. One of the unique features about the wineries in Michigan is that they are located by the Great Lakes and this of course adds to the robust flavor of the wines. One of the Leelenau stops is at the Bel Lago Winery. This winery is located at the base of Leelanau Lake. The winery boasts an amazing view of Lake Leelanau and its wine tasting room overlooks this incredible

sight. Another stop on a Leelenau event is the Black Star Farms. Not only is this a winery, but it is also a 160 acre farm with a B&B on sight. Take in the landscape and enjoy wines made right in the distillery. In addition to the wines, there is also cheese made on sight and many trails to hike around the countryside. This is a fabulous location to enjoy wines and time outdoors. All of the Leelenau wineries are located in a beautiful setting with fields of grapes and beautiful rolling hills. Additional wineries include Willow Vineyards, Shady Lane Cellars, Longview Winery, Leelanau Cellars, Good Harbor Winery, Grills Pier Vineyard and Winery, Ciccone Vineyard and Winery and more. To locate exact information about each individual winery visit on-line web-sites that features Michigan Wineries. Many of the individual wineries on a Leelenau wine tour have special events that coincide with holidays or other occasions. Available to tourists are special shuttles that can take guests to the various wineries to enjoy a day of wine tasting without the stress of having to drive.
